JOURNEYS THAT

PROTECT WHAT MATTERS

87% of travellers want their next trip to be more sustainable, and your guests can travel confidently knowing we share that goal.

For over 30 years, Tropic has been guided by a deep connection to nature – its ecosystems, its species, and the communities that have always been their true guardians. From our roots with the Huaorani community in Ecuador’s Amazon, to the highlands of Peru and the wilds of Patagonia, responsible travel has never been an add-on for us. It’s where we began.

A Carbon Neutral DMC

We measure and fully mitigate the carbon footprint of our three offices in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. Every ton of CO₂ our offices generate is accounted for through a verified mitigation program. That’s what carbon neutral means in practice.

We’ve gone further. We built a practical and honest way for travelers to address the footprint of their own journey. Because we wanted them to be part of that same commitment. Contributions go directly to the landscapes of Machu Picchu and the rainforests of Requena in the Amazon, funding locally led programs that conserve unique ecosystems, protect Amazonian biodiversity, and strengthen the communities that safeguard these territories.

Want to know exactly how many tons of CO₂ your travelers’ journey generates? We’ve built a calculator that makes it simple.

Our Impact in Numbers

Every year we sit down and document what we’ve actually done: the ecosystems we’ve supported, the carbon we’ve mitigated, the communities we’ve worked alongside, and the species whose habitats we’ve helped protect. It’s our way of keeping ourselves honest. Our 2026 report is on its way.

Certified by

Preferred by Nature

Since 2023, we’re proud to be certified by Preferred by Nature, an international non-profit that promotes responsible practices to protect nature, people, and climate.

This annual certification means something to us beyond the badge. It reflects how we actually operate with respect for the ecosystems we work within, the cultures we engage with, and the people who make every journey possible.

Our guides (or Guardians, as we’ve called them for decades), drivers, and office staff all receive ongoing training in responsible tourism. Not because it’s required. Because it’s who we are.

Our Sustainability Policy

We believe accountability starts with putting things in writing.
Our Sustainability Policy outlines exactly how we approach environmental protection, community engagement, and climate action, and we’re happy to share it openly.

Where Journeys Meet Local Impact

Behind every destination we work in are people, communities, and ecosystems that were there long before tourism arrived. Our job is to make sure they benefit from it, and that they’re still thriving long after travelers have gone home. These are some of the relationships and initiatives that make that possible.

Regional

May I Introduce You

This program connects travelers directly with local artisans, hosts, and cultural leaders. A genuine exchange that celebrates living traditions and puts money directly in the hands of the people keeping them alive.

A hand-picked group of small lodges with big souls. We work with them closely, helping them reach the right audience while making sure tourism works in their favor, not against them.

We support ECOS in their work with local youth, building the environmental awareness that the islands will need for generations to come.

High in the Andes, this initiative raises awareness of the páramo, those extraordinary high-altitude landscapes that sustain water sources and endemic species entire regions depend on.

In Peru

Misminay Community, Sacred Valley

More than 10 local families share traditions, daily life, and knowledge with our travelers, creating direct benefits for the community. We’ve worked alongside them since Tropic began operating in Peru.

We support conservation and wildlife monitoring work that helps protect an ecosystem as vast as it is fragile.

Every journey we design is a chance to

give something back.
